Over 60 online media outlets which are set forth below have published a report released by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) regarding a surge in evidence from social networking websites in divorce cases. According to the report, 81% of AAML members cited an increase in the past five years of evidence from websites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Marlene Eskind Moses, President of the AAML, cautioned that “an estranged spouse will certainly use postings on social networking websites that contain any contradictions to previously made statements and promises” as evidence in the divorce lawsuit. Therefore, divorcing parties should either limit their postings or stay away from social networking websites all together.
